Looking for the best breweries on the Oregon coast? I have you covered. I’m a lifelong Oregonian that’s spent most summers exploring the breathtaking coastline. My trips are becoming more frequent the older I get, and now that my beer-loving husband tags along, we’ve made sure to add breweries to our itineraries too.
I thought it’d be fun to do a quick roundup of the best Oregon coast breweries we’ve found to date. We’ve visited all of them at this point, here’s a ranked list of our favorites!

Fort George Brewery (Astoria)
Some folks say Astoria isn’t part of the coast but I disagree and for the purposes of this list (and this website for that matter) Astoria is coastal enough. Fort George Brewery is one of the most popular breweries at the Oregon coast. First opened in 2007, it’s found inside a converted auto garage which gives the space charming industrial vibes. The vibes are so cool that one of our best family friends gave their daughter a wedding here!
In terms of beer, expect to find the usual suspects on the (massive) menu, from strong hazy IPAs to award-winning ales. Come for the great beer and stay for the vibes. There’s plenty of outdoor (and indoor) seating, so your chances of snagging a table are pretty high, even though this brewery is notoriously busy.
The beer is great — but if I’m being honest — the food leaves something to be desired. We’ve visited this Oregon coast brewery on several occasions and have ordered meals a handful of times (the food is best described as “good, not great“).
Regardless, we can’t help but visit whenever we’re in the mood for some of the best beer on the Oregon coast. We’ve learned to pop over to Blue Scorcher Bakery (in the same building) for great sandwiches beforehand, if we’re feeling peckish.
Newport Brewing Company (Newport)
Newport Brewing Company opened in August 2019, making them one of the newer Oregon coast breweries. But it’d be a mistake to hold their age against them because the beers here punch above their weight.
I think that can be attributed to a mix between the custom built Portland Kettle Works Brew System and expert brew masters. The Dungeness IPA is the brewery’s flagship, although I’m partial to the Hazy Crazy DIPA.
There’s a full-service restaurant on site with a menu focused on elevated pub fare. The clam chowder hit the spot and the burger was excellent!
There’s also a dog friendly patio for those that believe beer tastes better with Fido around. Friendly vibes, great beer and good food. This is definitely one of the best dog friendly breweries at the Oregon coast.
7 Devils Brewing Co. (Coos Bay)
7 Devils Brewing Co. is a small craft brewery on a mission to bring thoughtfully-crafted beers to curious minds. Using American-sourced ingredients (may sourced from the Pacific Northwest), we were really impressed by the lineup.
There’s two locations to choose from. We visited both during our Oregon coast road trip, and agreed that the Coos Bay location has better vibes (they often host live music, to boot!).
The food is also worth mention, we had a few meals here over the years and always leave satisfied. Traditional pub fare made with local ingredients, whenever I see something seasonal on the menu I never hesitate to order.
de Garde Brewing (Tillamook)
If you’re an avid fan of sour ales, you’re sure to enjoy de Garde Brewing. Established in 2014, it didn’t take long for locals to consider it one of the best breweries on the Oregon coast.
De Garde Brewing consistently rakes in prestigious awards for their creative concoctions. Offering unforgettable sour ales, this brewery is all about pushing the limits through a very unique brewing method.
This is one of a few breweries in the world that uses a coolship method to make beer. A coolship is a flat, open top vessel used for cooling wort (liquid extracted from mashing). As such, the beers are made with natural-forming wild yeasts from the coastal air.
The owners, a husband and wife duo, were blindsided by the instant success. Avid beer enthusiasts travel thousands of miles to visit this brewery on the Oregon coast. Largely thanks to RateBeer ranking them one of the best breweries in the world in 2015.
If you’re more of a traditionalist, fret not. De Garde has a rotating menu of six guest taps catering to well-loved styles like lagers, ciders, ales and IPAs. But between you and me, it’d be a shame to miss an opportunity to try the best sour ales at the Oregon coast.

Obelisk Beer Co (Astoria)
Obelisk Beer Co pushes the boundaries of traditional brewing by crafting a diverse range of brews with unexpected flavors and ingredients. The variety spans the gamut, from light ales to barrel-aged brews and the focus is on quality over quantity.
We first learned about this brewery from a local we befriended at Fort George, who considered these the best beers at the Oregon coast. Fighting words, I know. But when we had a chance to taste these beauties for ourselves, we understood the hype.
Among the lineup, the vibrant Coastal Citrus IPA reigns supreme, but the Saison is worth mention too. All told, we tried six beers (tough job, I know) and each one was perfectly balanced. Plus, extra points for the top-notch customer service!

Chetco Brewing Company (Brookings)
In sticking with the theme of great Oregon coast breweries, we’d be remiss to skip Chetco Brewing Company.
Refusing to use additives, extracts or anything artificial, Chetco Brewing clarifies their beer using Irish moss. All ingredients used in the beer-making process are grown on the property without the use of pesticides or herbicides. It’s all about keeping it natural and letting nature do the rest.
You can tell the beer is expertly brewed — this is easily some of the best beer at the Oregon coast. Order a flight to see which style you prefer best before getting a pint. The helpful staff will guide you in the right direction.
As for the setting, think spacious, clean and great views and (drum roll, please) a fireplace! Doesn’t get better than this. Dogs allowed on the patio.

Beachcrest Brewing Company (Gleneden Beach)
Tiny but mighty is the best way to describe this beloved Oregon coast brewery. We opted for a tasting flight at Beachcrest Brewing Company (build your own) and landed on six brews. We were impressed by the selection (so many styles to choose from!), the PNW IPA ended up being our favorite.
In terms of seating and vibe, the indoor area is very cozy and colorful but the outdoor patio is the only place to be on a sunny day. They have a covered section with heaters for chillier days, making it easy to lounge for a bit. While we were enjoying our brews, we noticed tons of people ordering wood-fired pizzas at the counter so we followed suit.
The pizza alone is worth a visit! I’ve always found food options at the coast to be hit-or-miss, so I’ve added Beachcrest to my repertoire whenever I’m visiting the central Oregon coast. Seriously, don’t sleep on the pizza.
Rogue Brewing (Newport)
Serving Oregonians since 1988, Rogue has amassed an impressive reputation (and more than 2,000 awards) in the past 30+ years. It’s one of the oldest breweries at the Oregon coast and the state as a whole.
They have a few locations throughout the state, but the Oregon coast brewery is a must-see while visiting Newport. Their commitment to experimentation has turned many locals into life-long customers, with a rotating menu of exciting seasonals that keep everyone on their toes.
You’ll enter the pub through a little maze, which leads to a host. From there, you can choose to head upstairs to the restaurant and bar or go right to the gift shop. You can stock up on canned beers to-go and some fun merchandise at the gift shop.
We ordered a flight during our last visit because the seasonal menu was too tempting to pass up. The Batsquatch Hazy IPA is a non-negotiable order in my book, probably my single-favorite beer at the Oregon coast.
Fun fact: Rogue Brewing is the passion project of four friends, two of which were top executives at NIKE.
Pelican Brewing (Various Locations)
Pelican Brewing is a staple for great beer at the Oregon coast and clearly I’m not the only one that thinks so! As of 2023, they have four breweries at the Oregon coast. Of these, my favorite is the newest location at Siletz Bay which features modern decor, massive windows, and a great outdoor patio perfect for enjoying the stunning views.
The original location opened in Pacific City in 1996 and still draws a crowd today (seriously, try scoring a table during the weekends). Sitting pretty at the water’s edge, the brewery is constantly full of beach-goers, hikers and thirsty locals.
The extensive tap list is neatly organized by styles, ensuring everyone gets something they’ll love. I’m a huge fan of the Hazestack (hazy IPA) but never pass an opportunity to try the creative seasonal pours. The food is really good too, especially the burger.
I touched on this above but worth driving the point home, the biggest draw (for me personally) are the great locations. Pelican invested in making sure their restaurants are attractive, modern and spacious, making them perfect for large gatherings with friends.
Buoy Beer Company (Astoria)
Buoy Beer Company specializes in lagers, but they haven’t pigeon-holed themselves by any stretch of the imagination. Far from it, this brewery has racked up awards left and right for all styles of beer. The Czech Pilsner seems to steal the show, but don’t sleep on creative limited releases either.
Great beer aside, the pub fare churning out of the kitchen is worth the drive alone.
The German-inspired pretzel with cheese is a must-order while looking over the extensive beer menu. I ordered a salmon filet during my last visit that I can’t stop thinking about (guessing it was a seasonal dish, but you never know).
Hell, even if you don’t enjoy beer (this is a judgement-free zone), I suggest swinging by for some food. They took it up a notch since moving to the new location. Highly recommend.
Misty Mountain Brewing & Tap Haus (Brookings)
Located in the charming town of Brookings, Misty Mountain Brewing is the southernmost brewery on the Oregon coast, making it a natural stop for those embarking (or wrapping up) a proper coastal road trip.
This family-owned Lord of the Rings themed brewery makes hand-crafted ales and lagers in small batches using quality ingredients. Expect to find 8 beers on tap alongside a light food menu. If you’re a Tolkien fan, this subterranean gem is worth a detour! If you’re not, you’ll be welcomed all the same.

Arch Rock Brewing Company (Gold Beach)
While you technically won’t be able to sit down at this Oregon coast brewery, you should still swing by. It’s a small operation (no indoor seating) but the kind staff are happy to help you order some beers tailored to your tastes.
If you’re comfortable with commitment (are you?) settle for a full pint, which you can enjoy on premise or grab to go. I typically order the flights because I love getting to taste the new stuff. These folks always have something up their sleeve. Arch Rock Brewing is definitely a study in quality over quantity, so don’t expect an overwhelming menu.
Werner Brewing Company (Tillamook)
Werner Brewing Company was recently ranked as one of the fastest growing breweries in the country by Forbes, which means this Oregon coast brewery deserves some attention.
Offering a full-service restaurant and brewery, travelers use Werner as a necessary stop to refuel while exploring the coast. Being part-brewery, part-restaurant has its perks, especially when you excel in both departments (and thankfully Werner Brewing Company does just that).
Plus, the open patio is the only place you need to be during a sunny day at the coast. Dogs are welcome, so bring the pooch. Great grub and even better beer, what’s not to like?
Astoria Brewing Company (Astoria)
Found right along the popular esplanade, Astoria Brewing Company is a great laid-back brewery at the Oregon coast for those in search of a good time. This brewery is often overlooked in favor of its more famous neighbors but shouldn’t be missed.
Yachats Brewing (Yachats)
Yachats is one of my favorite towns at the Oregon coast if not for Luna Seafood House alone (those fish and chips!!). I never miss an opportunity to make the drive over for fresh seafood whenever I’m visiting the coast, which is how I discovered Yachats Brewing.
Intrigued, my husband and I popped in for a drink. We loved the atmosphere and the beer was tasty. We didn’t have a chance to try the food, but plan to swing by next time. I’m excited to see how this brewery grows over the years. I mean, who couldn’t use more breweries at the Oregon coast!
