Bend has been a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts for decades, but the city’s reputation for great coffee is slowly gaining the traction it deserves. Heck, I’d argue the best coffee in Bend rivals the state’s caffeinated powerhouse, Portland. As a frequent visitor, here’s a roundup of my favorite cafes in Bend.

Where to stay in Bend: For those asking, here’s the hotel we usually stay at while visiting Bend.

Still Vibrato Coffee Roasting
What started as a humble roastery has turned into a full-fledged cafe serving some of the best coffee in Bend. Still Vibrato offers an impressive selection of single origin coffee from around the world in a cozy modern ambiance.
I suggest ordering drip coffee or an Americano. Don’t get me wrong, the lattes are delicious too, but the coffee really sings. Plus, the cafe fills with natural light during the afternoon hours, making it a natural stop for anyone in search of the best working cafes in Bend.
Local’s Tip: While visiting Still Vibrato, you’ll be a stone’s throw from Viaggio, one of the best wine bars in Bend.

Lone Pine Coffee Roasters
When is comes to serving the best coffee in Bend, most locals would agree Lone Pine takes the cake. Roasting beans in-house, quality is top of mind. Better still, the alternative milk option (almond cashew milk ) is made in-house. I highly recommend ordering a latte to see what all the fuss is about.
But if you’re feeling indecisive (pre-coffee brain is a real thing!), the easy-going baristas are happy to point you in the right direction. In terms of atmosphere, the airy industrial cafe is decorated with cozy furniture and gives off ambient vibes perfect for getting some work done or catching up with friends.
Don’t sleep on the Liège waffles, a traditional Belgian street food the owner introduced to Bend from his time living in France. Between the great coffee and charming vibes, Lone Pine is definitely one of the best cafes in Bend.
Local’s Recommendation: Lone Pine doubles as a wine bar Friday and Saturdays from 5-8pm. Highly recommend swinging by for reasonably-priced natural wines.
Backporch Coffee Roasters
What started as a passion project on a lifelong local’s porch has turned into a beloved Bend cafe with an enthusiastic fan base. Don’t just take my word for it, Backporch has spread to four locations within the city since opening in 2006.
Sourcing 100% Arabica beans from all over the world, folks can’t get enough of these delicious pours. You can opt for creative concoctions like seasonal lattes (I’m partial to the lavender latte, so good) or stick with classics like Americanos and drip, there’s no wrong order at this beloved Bend cafe.

Thump
Dating back to 2007, Thump is one of the oldest coffee roasters in Bend. Since then, Thump has expanded to three Bend cafes and one location in Denver. The coffee is delicious, which is to be expected with small-batch roasted beans.
Spending years perfecting the coffee making process, the name of the game at Thump is simplicity. Offering exceptional coffee alongside homemade pastries, you can easily spend an entire morning content at this charming cafe in Bend.
We want everything we make, everything we provide to our people, to be worth more than what they pay for it. Not simply because of our care for craft, but because of our care for them.

Sisters Coffee
I’ll say Sisters is our go-to coffee spot in Bend. We absolutely love this place. So much so even that we order their beans to our house when we’re feeling splurgy.
Sisters Coffee was founded in 1989 in Sisters, Oregon by a husband-and-wife duo who would become the first roasters in Central Oregon. It didn’t take long for the business to grow, and within 6 months, they bought a larger roaster to keep up with demand.
Years later, Sisters has three locations in Oregon — Sisters, Bend and Portland. All three locations boast long weekend lines, but not without reason. The coffee is exceptional (some of the best coffee in Bend), but the breakfast menu is half the draw.
Their breakfast burrito is the only way to start a hearty day of hiking (split it between two people, it’s huge!), and the breakfast sandwiches are great too!

Palate
Serving Bendites since 2013, Palate uses Coava Beans to create delicious drinks, especially chai lattes. If you’re feeling peckish, opt for the baked pastries from Sparrow. The atmosphere here is really fun and the patio is perfection in the summer.

Cafe des Chutes
When it comes to the most charming cafes in Bend, European-inspired. Cafe des Chutes is hard to beat. The cafe uses beans from Still Vibrato, resulting in top-notch drinks. From standard drip to crafty lattes, everything is guaranteed to impress, but it’s the baked goods that keep me coming back.
I’ve fallen victim to the gravitational pull of the Oregon Roll (marionberry jam, hazelnut butter glaze) and never pass the opportunity to swing by for the treat. They offer many gluten-free and vegan options as well, ensuring everyone leaves well-fed and happy.
Good to know: Cafe des Chutes moonlights as a natural wine bar (with cocktails!) every Friday & Saturday.
