I just returned from a lovely brunch at Maurice with my favorite gals, my mom, my aunt and my cousin. We are determined to make brunch a monthly tradition from this point forward because we enjoy each other’s company so much.
The restaurant is very small and I was worried we wouldn’t get a table. So I suggested we meet at at 9:50am, ten minutes before opening. I wasn’t wrong about coming early, but apparently the kitchen doesn’t start serving food until 10:30.
Not to worry, we weren’t in a hurry (for once!). So we lingered slowly with coffee, rosemary scones and black-pepper cheesecake until the kitchen opened.

When the menu arrived we were surprised to find it completely hand written! The sweet touch did not go unnoticed. We ordered an anchovy smorbrod (open-faced sandwich), simple green salad and fois gras – all the dishes were great!
I really enjoyed the relaxed vibes at this cozy Scandinavian/French restaurant. We didn’t feel rushed, so we lingered for two hours, slow Saturday mornings are the best.
Here are some photos from our little brunch date.
